Tali nodded absently to herself, shutting down the program on her omnitool. The initial sweep of Shepard’s quarters had gone smoothly, nothing had been picked up. She wasn’t really surprised, to be honest. The program wasn’t perfect, but she wasn’t done searching yet. There was the visual check left to do. A part of her felt it was wrong, looking through Shepard’s things like this. She’d been asked to do it herself, and so here she was. She would be thorough. If there was a Cerberus bug here, she would find it.
The bathroom took the least amount of time. Her omnitool provided light to look through the tiny vents, luminous eyes searching for anything that didn’t belong. The mirror held no secrets, nor did the shower head. Everything was clean, neat. Perfectly in order.
Shepard’s desk was relatively neatly ordered, the reports stacked in an orderly fashion and Tali was careful not to disrupt the order of the documents. She checked beneath the desk, her fingers probing the darker corners for any erroneous objects that didn’t belong. She found nothing.
Tali spent the next while searching every corner of Shepard’s quarters. It felt like she was invading Shepard’s privacy. She shook her head, the soft blue glow reflecting off the smooth surface of her helmet’s mask, her lips tightening into a frown. Nothing. She had found nothing here to give her any idea that there might be any sort of Cerberus device. She shook her head. It was time to move on to the next part of her search.
ooc: I’d like a list of people who are staying on the Normandy for the Camala expedition~ If you’re staying behind, please please please let me know either by replying to this or tossing me an ask ;3; thanks!
you know me, i'm always up for hitting things.: kaidanalenko: Kaidan glanced at Shepard, frowning as he heard first...
Kaidan glanced at Shepard, frowning as he heard first Thane’s words about bugs, straining to hear the assassin’s low tones, then Shepard’s reply about trusting EDI to remove any devices that may be on board.
Certainly his first judgement was to trust Shepard’s words, but his…
Zaeed kept his head down, chewing carefully at his slab of roast. As much as he wanted to join in to the discussion, Shepard had already been very clear with him about voicing his opinions on Cerberus. Besides, he didn’t feel like vocally supporting Alenko. Still too much bad blood for them to start getting all buddy-buddy. Instead, he carefully interjected, without looking up, “I’ll help out with the search, Shepard. I’ve done a few ops in the past with this sort of thing. Might be able to figure out which nooks and crannies would be the most likely hiding places, that sort of thing.” He speared another piece of the roast on his fork, but set it down rather than eat it. ”Assuming Lawson is OK with it.”
Tali folded her arms over her chest as she listened to the conversation, her eyes narrowing slightly. The thought of these…bugs…being on the Normandy was apalling. Granted, she didn’t trust EDI, but the AI seemed efficient in keeping Cerberus from knowing what was going on with the crew. That didn’t mean that there wasn’t any chance Cerberus could keep tabs on them…with everything that had happened, there was no guarantee that there hadn’t been any extra programming.
She took another sip of her drink before she spoke, her tone quiet. “I can program my drone to hunt for any signals that don’t belong on the ship, Shepard, and send it with Zaeed. I couuld also run a diagnostic on the systems while you’re planet-side to see if there’s any abnormalities with our core programming…” As long as EDI doesn’t interfere, anyway…

When her timer sounded, she called out that dinner was finished, carefully pulling it from the oven with her hands covered. Placing the cookies in their place, she set another timer and looked over at everyone. “So, are we gonna sing or should we just cut this up and eat?”Shepard waved a hand dismissively towards the thief in the kitchen. “Just cut it up. No one’s been singing to me since I was a kid and you better not start now.” She carefully avoided leaving any kind of edge to her voice, unwilling to bring up her childhood - people did that for her on occasion as it was - and walked up to the counter, grabbing the leftover cake before dropping it into Urz’ wide, waiting mouth.
“Careful with that” she then said, turning to the quarian, still with a small smile on her face. “Since I’m taking both Garrus and Miranda groundside, you’re in charge if anything happens. Not that one drink hurts.” She glanced around the mess, feeling almost out of place among all these smiles. “How were things down in engineering during the fight, by the way? The Normandy was stealthed for quite a while. I can see that no one’s been cooked alive but”, she shrugged, “I doubt the workers on Illium have ever worked on anything like this ship before.”
Tali accepted the drink with a nod of thanks, watching as Kasumi moved to the oven. She almost started with surprise when Shepard spoke to her, and she felt herself straighten.
“How were things down in engineering during the fight, by the way?”
Tali couldn’t help the grimace that pulled at her lips, and she shook her head. “I’ll have to spend some time repairing all the ‘new’ wiring. The bosh’tet who put it in there had no idea of the power requirements that would be placed on it. We blew three full sectors. I’ve put a temporary patch in, but I’ll have to completely redo it at some point.” Her tone was almost acidic. “I have to say I’m disappointed…I expected better from that repair crew. Something is kind of…what’s the human word…’fishy’?”
She sighed and sipped her drink carefully, grateful for the induction port. “Ah..sorry. Not a very happy topic for birthdays, I think. Don’t worry, Shepard. I will get the Normandy back to peak condition in no time. I won’t let you down.”

Q:Do you have more than one kind of envirosuit? Different patterns? Different helmets?
Our suits may initially look no different from Quarian to Quarian, but we find ways to make them our own. Different colored fabrics with patterns can make our suits more…personal. Some suits may have variations in their design as well, at least with regards to helmet color or amount of body armor.
Q:I SAW YOU UNMASKED
I highly doubt that.

Tali frowned slightly. Should she have gotten Shepard a gift? It seemed…appropriate..but she really didn’t have anything to give her at the moment. Maybe if she gave Shepard something later…?
Tali almost didn’t hear Kasumi’s next question, and she considered, and then nodded. ”Nothing very strong though…I don’t want a repeat of Omega.”

“I’m not very hungry…” she started to say, but then her eyes noted the strained smile on the thiefs face and after a moment of consideration, shook her head. “Maybe something to drink?” She shuffled her feet awkwardly before she leaned closer to Kasumi, whispering quietly. “Is there any human custom I should be aware of when it comes to birthdays…?”
